How to get to Cluj

By plane

Cluj-Napoca is connected by direct flights with 20 cities ( Bucharest, Munich, London-Luton, Vienna, Bologna, Rome, Venice, Paris, Brussels-Charleroi, Eindhoven, Valencia, Madrid, Zaragoza, Geneva, Basel, Malmo, Cologne,Dortmund etc). In case there is no direct flight to Cluj, there are plenty of bus connections. Use this website to book your bus ride.

City transfer:

The Airport of Cluj-Napoca has transport connections to downtown Cluj-Napoca. To get there, travelers can choose between taxi and public transport (bus line 8 running from 5:30 AM till midnight, bus number 5, at the price of 4 RON for two travels). For the public bus, you need to buy a ticket from the booth in front of either the Arrivals or Departures terminals. You are not allowed to buy tickets from the driver.

A regular taxi fare from the airport to the city center (about 10 km) is around 15-25 RON (4-6 EUR) – the current tarrif is about 2.25 RON/km. Look only for company taxis and clearly ask the driver for the price! The airport is within Cluj-Napoca city limits and extra-urban charges should not be applied. In Romania the taxi (cab) should have a valid badge  and taximeter. Do not look for bargains, it’s not worth it, the official rates are low!

By train

There are daily trains to and from Budapest. The average journey on this route lasts around 8 hours. There are daily trains connecting Cluj-Napoca to all other Romanian cities. To check the latest train schedules for domestic routes please visit the website of the Romanian Railways:

By car

The European road E60 connects Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest, Brasov, Oradea and Budapest (through Bors customs if you come from Budapest).

How to get around Cluj

Public Transportation

The public transportation system in Cluj-Napoca runs between 5:00 AM and 23:15 PM.

There are 25 bus lines, 7 trolleybus lines and 3 tram lines all operated by the RATUC company. Complete routes can be found at . The tariff is 4 RON (about 85 eurocents) for two travels. Tickets can be bought for cash only at special booths at most stops, identifiable by the RATUC logo and possibly the text “Bilete si Abonamente” (meaning “short and long-term tickets”).Tickets must be purchased beforehand and validated in the ticket-stamping machine upon boarding. Tickets are interchangeable for all three forms of transport with the exception of express buses.

However, you need not worry about public transportation because we offer free public transportation for the duration of the conference.
